Covered But Still Fashionable

Fashionable:
Usually Muslim women are stereotyped in the media as being suppressed, submissive and censored. They are usually shown as unfashionable and always wearing dull colours, but that's far from the truth.

A lot of women choose to wear the Hijab, the Arabic word for a Muslim head scarf , for religious proposes but also to represent themselves creatively. Fashion is an art from and Muslim women today are using it to express  themselves in a modern yet modest way. Fashion is always changing and Muslim women know how to keep up with it by mixing it up a bit with vibrant colors and exotic textures while also being conservation. Trends like skinny jeans, long silky tunics and uniquely printed scarves are now being worn.

I went abroad to Egypt and I was amazed at how hijabi, or covered women, twist together westernized clothes with the flair of the Middle East. During my trip I saw maxi dresses being worm with blazers or colored cardigans. They also wrap their scarves in a bur or pin it up with vintage brooch as an accessory. I was browsing around for cloths, I noticed  that they had a section for young women who wear the hijab. Some famous designers are now designing for hijabi women like Stella McCartney and Ellie Saab.

Later as I hit the beaches I noticed a new invention that hijabi women now wear something called the "Burkinis" which is a body bathing suit covers the entire body and has a waterproof cap which covers the hair. The Burkinis have interesting prints and  bright colours.

Now females shop the cloths that fit both her religion and her fashion sense. And I m really excited that designers have started designing for Muslim women because they understand the target market more.
