Successful Ladies of Pakistan

Fatima Ali Jinnah:
                                                              Also know as Madr-e- Millat, Fatima Jinnah's name is an important one among the leaders of independence movement. she was born on July 30, 1893 in Karachi and was 14 years younger than Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of  Pakistan. Encouraged by her brother, she completed her education, living in a hostel while attending Dr Ahmad Dental College. In 1923, she opened her own dental practice in Calcutta. She taught Muslim women to stand shoulder to shoulder with men during the freedom Muslim Women Students Federation in 1941 in Delhi. She died on July 8, 1967 due to serious illness.

Benazir Bhutto:
                                                     Benazir Bhutto was the first women elected as the prime minister to lead a Muslim state. After completing her early education in Pakistan, She pursued her higher education in the US. From 1969 to 1973 she attended Radcliffe College at Harvard University, where she obtained a Between 1973 and 1977, she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford during which she compelted additional courses in International Law and Diplomacy. After LMH she attended St Catherine's College, Oxford and in December 1976 she was elected president of the Oxford Union, becoming the first Asian women to head the prestigious debating society.
               On 18 December 1987, she married Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi. She was sworn in as Prime Minister for the time in 1988 at the age of 35. She went into self exile in Dubai in Honorary L.L.D degree from the University of Toronto. Benazir returned to Pakistan on 18 October 2007.
She was assassinated on 27 December 2007, in Rawalpindi. In 2008, she named one of seven  winners of the ?United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights.

Bilquis Edhi:
                                           Balquis Edhi, a renowned social worker, was only 17 and working as incharge of the Edhi nursing department when she married Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1966. A number of destitute women in Edhi homes have been raised and trained under the supervision of Bilquis Edhi. She has  a number of awards to her credit, such as, The Rotary Club Award and The 1986 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service.

Bano Qudsia:
                                             Bano Qudsia is a writer, intellectual and play-wright who is regarded among the best Urdu novelists and short story writers of modern times. She is best known for her novel Raja Gidh She writes for television and stage in both Urdu and Punjabi Languages. The Graduate Award for Best Playwright was conferred on Bano in 1986, followed  by the same award for three consecutive years from 1988 to 1990. In 1986, she was also given the Taj Award for Best Playwright.

Fatima Suraiya Bajia:
                                                                          Born in Hyderabad, India, Fatima Suraiya Bajia has attended a formal school, all her education look place at home, but she is ranked an  eminent intellectual, Urdu novelist, playwright and drama writer of the country. The recipient of the Pride of Performance, she has also been awarded with various awards at home and abroad inecognition of her works. She also remained Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh.

Parveen Shakir:
                                                     Parveen Shakir, a prominent female poet, was born on 24 N ovember, 1952 in Karachi. She received two undergraduate degrees - in English Literature and Linguistics from University of Karachi. She died in a car accident in Islamabad when she was 42. Her poetry was a breath of fresh air. She used the first-person feminine pronoun, which is rarely used in Urdu  poetry. She was awarded the Pride of Performance after her death.

Nazia Hassan:
                                               Nazia Hassan, Queen of  Pakistani pop and the first ever female pop singer of the subcontinent, was born in London to an affluent family. She became a star overnight when she was only 15 through her song ' Aap Jaisa koi ". Nazia died on august 13, 2000 due to cancer at the age of 35. She was awarded Pride of Performance Award in March 2002.
